Archways Old World Mural with Columns

The Chandler Archway Classical Academys'
Headmaster requested a mural with archways and Socrates. After playing with many ideas, we came up with this mural. It took 4 days to complete. On the left we have Plato and Aristotle with children entering the academy. Socrates in the center, angels holding the academy's emblem. On the right are the same children, graduated with diplomas in hand, walking away. Everyone loves the mural and many take pictures of it and of their children in front of it. It was such a joy to paint this mural for the staff and all children and parents who will enjoy it forever more!

The customer wants this simple glaze fireplace to have a Burl Wood finish to match the dressers and the hearth to look like wood. Here is how it looked before

We coated it with a yellow paint/ primer

Then we faux finished the caramel glaze.

We completed this breakfast nook a month ago, here are all the photos. The pink one at the bottom is how it used to look before. The first photo shows a hawk I painted on the ceiling of the breakfast nook, landing on a branch.

I started at the top, filling in the sky, then the castles and trees. Then the water and reflections. Tomorrow I'll finish the unicorn, fairy and small fairies. Also, I plan on softening the edges.

Baby Room Painting, Fairy Mural

We started on a baby room for a baby girl. We helped the clients pick out the colors that would work with their decor for baby's accessories. This will be a two-tone room with a ribbon border seperating the colors. First, you draw the ribbon line. Then paint the top half with Periwinkle Lavender. The lower half was painted with Mocha Plum. Then we painted on the ribbon with several colors and shades of pink.

The photograph to the right shows a big patch we mudded to smooth out just that area to get it ready for the mural.

Fireplace Wall Transformation Completed

We covered the white tile with a troweled on stone

product and stained it with various stone colors.

We nailed stars and horseshoes on the mantle.

We painted heiroglyphics of horses and riders on the stone

(right above the fireplace)

We put alot of character into the faux stone, and it came out fabulous!

This is a one-of-a-kind masterpiece!

Fireplace Wall Transformation- Custom built rustic mantle

We Faux Finished and antiqued the niche and painted the surrounding wall brown. We custom-built a mantle/ fireplace surround out of charactered Cedar wood, stained and sealed it. It came out magnificent!

This fireplace wall doesn't match the decor of this rustic, western style house, so we are transforming it with a new custom built rustic mantle, faux stone to cover the white tile, and faux finishes on surrounding walls and niche.

Serenity Prayer Mural

Well, we had a request from a client for a hand-painted Serenity Prayer Mural for her husband on the bedroom wall for Christmas. What an exciting project! This well-known, beautiful saying apparently has very special meaning to him, and they recite it together EVERY night! Wow! We can all learn from that! After deciding where to paint it, we decided on brown to match the bedroom. It took us 10 hours but we completed it, and it came out fabulous! Her husband was instructed to stay out of the bedroom, however their German Shepherd kept pushing the door open out of curiosity, and we had to go and shut the door constantly, it was so funny! We had a great time painting and listened to Christmas music. After we completed the mural and cleaned up, the client brought her husband in with his eyes closed. When he opened his eyes in front of the mural, his mouth just dropped and he was so excited! Then he played with the dimmer switch for the two spotlights as you can see in the photos below. I hope we get alot more projects like this one, especially seeing their faces light up! The feeling is indescribable!

Today we started on a suede Formal Dining Room. We had to smooth it out, as it had orange peel texture. It took two coats to smooth it out. Then we primered it .

Then we rolled on our first coat.

We are working on a Mediterranean Mural. Her we mudded in the areas to be painted to smooth out the rough texture.

Here we added clouds, land, trees, and mountains.

And Voila! The Finished Product! Bill and Marcia love their new murals, especially since they are sailors!

Every time we get on a fun project, we always seem to do more and more and more. It is fun and maybe the client will let us do some other finishes in their home.

They dress-up really fun. We wanted to make him look like he is having the best experience of his life. Michael Jackson, Cher, Jimmie Hendrix, Elton John, & Eddie Van Halen are added.

Today we are on day three. The paint we are using is artist paints for the caricatures. When we have a character over our faux, we first paint the area with a white primer. The primer dries quickly and our acrylics colors will be vibrant. Today we get to do some detail.

Today we are starting the jam room mural. Caroline was up all night putting together our ideas in photo shop. The caricatures the client chose are Michael Jackson, Cher, Steve Tyler, Jimmy Hendricks, Eddie Vanhalen, Elton John, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Freddie Mercury, and their cousin is on the drums. We are starting out by smoothing the textured wall with gypsum plaster. We are only smoothing the areas where the caricatures are going. We have found this extra step is so important. It helps when we are doing detail. We primed the entire wall, then let the primer dry. We painted the background by placing the caricatures and doing a faux finish for the background. The background will be black on the bottom and fade to different blues. We started with Marilyn Monroe, then Elvis, then Freddie Mercury, then Frank Sinatra.

ROCK/BLUES/OLDIES BAND MURAL

Today we are commissioned to design a mural in a Jam room. This room is an area in the client’s home where they gather to play their instruments. The client is asking for eleven caricatures of people they choose. We suggested the wall mural have the caricatures playing instruments as back-up musicians! The room is twenty five feet wide and twelve feet tall. The caricature mural will be placed behind the raised stage. This is going to be a fun mural. Steve and I are excited. The clients have chosen the following musicians to be in the mural:
Michael Jackson, Cher, Steve Tyler, Jimmie Hendrix, Eddie Van Halen, Elton John, Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra, Elvis, Freddie Mercury and the Clients' cousin, Brian, as the drummer ( he's a real drummer the band

I've been commisioned to paint a mural in a Wine cellar!

I'm going to create a custom canvas to fit in the niche in the Wine Cellar, that way I can paint it at home. Customer is a builder and very specific about what he wants.

He wants a Vineyard with lots of rows, a city in the distance, and a couple enjoying a glass of wine together. This is going to be fun!
